Visiting Professor Dr. Erika Froelicher

Dr. Erika Froelicher

We are pleased to welcome Visiting Professor Dr. Erika Froelicher at the Department of Nursing Science! Dr. Froelicher is Emeritus Professor at the University of California San Fransisco, USA (UCSF) and Professor at Sifa University, Izmir, Turkey.

For over 30 years, Dr. Froelicher has made significant contributions to the fields of nursing, education and public health. With advanced degrees in nursing, public health, and epidemiology, her experience includes that of emergency room and psychiatric nurse, cardiovascular clinical nurse, health center director, researcher, epidemiologist, and university professor/chair.

A distinguished scientist, author and lecturer, Dr. Froelicher has presented papers and given invited lectures on coronary disease prevention, rehabilitation, smoking cessation and disease management to more than 60 national and international groups. She has published about 300 publications in peer reviewed journals and has actively engaged in developing Evidence Based Practice Guidelines and Health Policy changes.

Dr. Froelicher has founded or participated in the development of doctoral education programs internationally, such as at the University of Basel, Switzerland, the University of Jordan, Amman, the University of Baghdad, Iraq, and the Sultan Qabosh University in Muscat Oman. Most recently she serves as Professor at the Sifa University, Health Sciences School in Izmir, Turkey.

Staying at the University of Vienna from October - November, 2015, Dr. Froelicher will provide consultation and support to the researchers at our department and will be engaged in teaching courses for both our Master's program and for our doctoral program.
